I tried to imagine the artist who designed this clever – yet not clever at all – use of a symbol in place of a letter. I wondered how the fact that the symbol actually looks very much LIKE THE LOWER-CASE LETTER A, escaped his notice entirely.
Or maybe the original file was accidentally deleted. Then some intern who knew nothing about typography but was all, “hey, I’m pretty cool with photoshop”, had to recreate the thing in the last 5 minutes before the presses started running. Maybe it wasn’t deliberately ridiculous.
