10 MINUTES
It’s fun Friday!
Assuming it has been a good week and the camper’s have proved they can handle it, camper’s will walk into a decorated surprise room accented by their meteorites and flying dinos. These decorations should be put together at the end of the day Thursday. Aside from their projects you can use as many of the big decorations in the back, there are giant leaves, green table cloths you can hang from the ceiling wires.
Show each student their markers. Provide one coloring page, and one 11 x 17 sheet of blank copy paper so they can get started making artwork. They can choose either paper to start work on.
NOTE: Encourage students to keep working with one page for as long as possible, asking them what they can add to it (otherwise some will go through many pages in a very short time).

3.1 Line up and rules
2 minutes
Campers line up at the door with their snacks and water bottles before heading outside.
This is a good time to check to see if anyone forgot to bring a snack so that you can provide one from the library. (i.e. goldfish, fruit snacks, granola bar)
Go over a few rules that help set expectations for camper’s behavior.
“Before you’re allowed to play you must have your snack finished and all trash thrown away. Also, no one is allowed past the orange cone line.”
This is to ensure that no one is in danger of being hit by a car and it also helps keep campers away from the wooded area, where there is poison ivy and lots of bugs.
3.2 Snack break
28 minutes
Campers enjoy a mini play break after finishing their snacks.
Have a few teachers head back to the rooms to set up the art stations detailed in the next step.
After snack kids are allowed to run around, draw with chalk, play card games etc. Be on the lookout for any antagonistic behavior and be ready to remind students of the rules if needed.
There will be large trash cans with lids by the picnic tables that should be fully covered after use and emptied at least weekly (ideally every Friday).
Before lining back up to head inside make sure that everyone has taken the time to look around to check to see if any trash was missed. once everyone has all of their things they brought outside with them you can go ahead and lead them back inside to continue onto the remaining projects of the day.

3.1 rules
10 minutes
Explain how the art stations work.
Based on how the week goes behaviorally (as a group), teachers can combine camps and hold stations in the big back studio. The room is divided into sections by rearranging tables and chairs. Each station should be set with certain capacities to ensure that it is organized chaos.
“Since you all worked so hard to create great projects, we get to participate in art stations! We’re going to combine classes with the other room and have a lot of fun making mini projects! If a statio0n is full make sure to wait your turn before you join- treat everyone nicely or you’ll have to sit out in the other room on your own. Alright! Lets line up and have fun!”
3.2 stations
55 minutes
Art stations!
Stations include:
-
-
- Color transfer- draw lines only with sharpie on card stock (half or quarter sheet). Then, color on aluminum foil (small piece) with washable markers and lightly spray with water. Take the card stock and press (sharpie side down) onto wet foil. Peel off paper and reuse the foil.
- Mural table- tape down big piece of butcher drawing paper and have campers add-on to a giant themed drawing started by the teachers. Oil pastels or markers work well for coloring if wanted.
- Watercolor minis- have students draw with pencil first and then, they can just paint using watercolors.
- Bracelet making- have an assortment of beads sorted by type on paper plates (letters, colors, etc) and teacher passes out pipe cleaners (must be restricted access or they go wild).
- Play doh table- tape down parchment paper onto a table, bring out play-doh and tools. Emphasize no color mixing with the doughs!
- Blocks and animals- clear a space on the ground where kids can play!
-
