Wouldn’t it be great if you could spend all your weekends like this?
Well I’m about to tell you how.
But first, let’s get back to current reality. It’s Sunday, and you should be relaxing, but you need an art lesson this week. You know what you have to do, and you know it takes time.
- Search Pinterest and curriculum sites for ideas and lessons
- Buy handouts from one of the lessons
- Look over purchased handouts
- Become increasingly disgusted with handouts
- Choose the useable parts from several lesson plans
- Fill in the gaps and rewrite the lesson
- Plan for materials
- Make lists
- Write outline/notes for teaching
- Search and compile photo references
- Make new handout
- Print all your stuff
Yay! You’re ready and it’s only 11 pm.

There has to be a better way (and there is).
Enter ArtSquish!
Let’s try this again. So, you need a new art lesson this week? No problem, because you subscribe to the best art lessons on the planet.
Here’s what you do.
- Log into ArtSquish and open the current lesson for any age group you need.
- Read the Teachtools section for background and preparations
- Study the Lessonplan section
- Print your handouts
- Smile contentedly, because you know the lesson is as good as you would have made it – if only you had an extra day in the week.
Yay! That only took an hour. All your lists and notes are already done. You didn’t have to guess what the writer meant. It was fun. It was easy. And it’s such a good lesson you can’t wait to teach it.

The grab bag of online art lessons
Finding good lessons online is like playing the games at the County Fair. All those fabulous prizes, and it looks so easy. It doesn’t take long for you to learn that you’re going to spend lots more money and time than you meant to, and you still won’t have much to show for it.

What you got
If you teach in a public or private school
I teach at my own art school, and my wife has been a public grade-school math teacher for the last 9 years. We created ArtSquish because we wanted to share our art lessons with the world. We’ve worked on these ideas and materials at my school for 9 years, and tested them on over 1200 students. They’re as good as I know how to make them.
We also wanted it to be so affordable that you would not have to worry about the cost. When everyone has said, “wow! you’re not charging enough”, we don’t pay attention to them, because we know that teachers will consider carefully before making a $16 per month decision.
If you are a homeschooler
We homeschooled for K-8th grade, and it was some seriously hard work. We have special homeschool classes at my art school, and we understand what it takes for someone to teach a subject that they’re not an expert at. Art is hard to teach even when you are an accomplished artist. You need a great curriculum with easy to understand instructions, solid lessons that aren’t just games and crafts, and support materials like video and photo references.
I’ll buy your first day off!
Let’s pretend you said, “put your money where your mouth is, Dennas”, even though you’re too nice to say it out loud. You thought it, right? So, I’m going to do it. You get a month of ArtSquish for free. I’m pretty sure you’re going to like it so much that you’ll not only continue your subscription, but that you’ll tell a zillion of your friends they need it too. You’ll be addicted to ArtSquish! (ok, maybe not a zillion).

Because hey, the world needs happy artists – and art teachers.
